Moss Books opened in 1992, a few doors further up the street from its present location, we quickly grew and moved to our current store in 1996. 2000 saw the opening of the Loft Cyber Cafe which remained above the book shop until very recently. The space it once occupied has now been put over to the retail of books, this has enabled much more space to browse in the shop downstairs, and more books for sale in the shop overall.
We have specialist sections on transport, for example Railways and Motoring. We also have an extensive History section including Russian, German and British History, as well as Archaeology and the Ancient World plus smaller sections on China, Japan, Italy, Spain and France with odd items on other areas.
We have an A-Z Fiction section for Classic and Modern Literature, as well as a Poetry and
Plays section. An A-Z Crime section which has an assortment of older and newer titles.
We have an extensive section on Art, Music Military, Natural History, Politics, Economics, Science Fiction/Fantasy, Psychology, Philosophy, Religion, Cookery, Craft, Topography, and a range of modern paperbacks.
Upstairs there are sections devoted to Sport, Architecture, Foreign Language, Exploration/Adventure, hard back fiction and Wildlife, we also have a room containing books on a mixture of subjects.
